Brett Maher is CFL Special teams player of the week

The CFL announced it’s player of the week recipients for week four. Brett Maher, kicker/punter of the Ottawa RedBlacks became the first player in RedBlacks history to receive a player of the week award. He booted six field goals to help the Ottawa RedBlacks defeat the Toronto Argonauts 18-17 in the RedBlacks first ever home game at TD Place.

In addition to booting a 23 yard field goal with less than a minute left to play, Maher also kicked 5 other 3 pointers; from 26, 30, 22, 32 and one from 48 yards. The record for most field goals kicked in a single game is 7 in 1994 by Terry Baker of the Ottawa Rough Riders and by Dean Dorsey in 1989.
